Sovos has appointed David McCann as Chief Technology Officer as the company pushes deeper into AI-driven tax compliance and real-time regulatory reporting. McCann will lead the global technology organization and oversee the next phase of Sovos’ compliance platform, including expanded data and AI capabilities across Sovi AI and the Sovos Tax Compliance Cloud. His role will also bring product, engineering, and design into a single operating model as Sovos works to help multinational enterprises manage increasingly complex compliance requirements.
McCann brings over two decades of experience scaling enterprise SaaS platforms in highly regulated industries. He most recently served as Chief Technology Officer at Self Financial, where he led platform modernization and fintech infrastructure scaling. Throughout his career, McCann has acted as a software operating partner for venture and private equity firms, contributing to more than $5 billion in business outcomes.
The appointment occurs as Sovos prioritizes AI-powered intelligence and agentic workflows within its tax software ecosystem. President Gregg Spratto stated that McCann’s expertise in cloud-native platforms and AI-forward leadership will accelerate the company’s ability to innovate at scale. McCann will focus on embedding automation into core engineering workflows to meet the increasing data complexity of global tax compliance.
