Rackspace Technology, a provider of hybrid cloud and AI solutions, has appointed Gajen Kandiah as Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Amar Maletira, who will transition to Vice Chairman of the Board. Kandiah, who previously served as President and COO of Hitachi Digital and CEO of Hitachi Vantara, brings more than two decades of leadership experience across services, infrastructure, software, and AI. His earlier career at Cognizant saw him help grow the business from $368 million to over $16 billion.
Under his leadership, Rackspace will advance its AI-first multicloud strategy, focusing on governed operations for AI and data workloads across private, public, and sovereign environments in collaboration with hyperscalers and ecosystem partners.
Chairman Jeffrey Benjamin welcomed the appointment, stating, “Gajen is a proven operator across services, infrastructure, software, and AI. His experience aligns with our strategy to deliver secure and governed multicloud solutions with stronger reliability, security, and time to value.”
Kandiah emphasized his commitment to customers and culture, noting, “What draws me most is the Racker culture and our unwavering dedication to customer success.” His priorities include accelerating innovation in cloud management and private AI, deepening partnerships, and ensuring execution across sales, delivery, and operations while maintaining continuity with Maletira’s transformation initiatives.
