MVTec Software GmbH, a machine vision software manufacturer, has announced a collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies to enable HALCON software users to leverage Qualcomm Dragonwing NPUs. This partnership enhances Deep Learning performance on embedded devices, particularly smart cameras. MVTec is developing an interface between HALCON and the Qualcomm Dragonwing RB3 Gen 2 platform using Qualcomm’s Linux and AI framework.
Roman Moie, Product Owner at MVTec, said, “As a pure software manufacturer for machine vision, our goal is to ensure that customers can develop the best possible machine vision solution using our products. However, this is only possible when combined with the most powerful hardware available. With its powerful AI accelerator, Qualcomm Technologies is an ideal partner.”
The collaboration aims to optimize performance for Deep Learning applications on embedded vision devices and industrial machine vision. Eric Mazzoleni, Vice President, Industrial and Embedded IoT Sales – Europe at Qualcomm Germany, GmbH, added, “By deploying MVTec’s software directly on the dedicated NPU, the Dragonwing processor unlocks new levels of performance for demanding machine vision workloads. Together, we’re helping manufacturers meet the requirements of Industry 4.0 for Europe’s industrial transformation.” The initiative is part of MVTec’s Technology Partner Program, promoting collaboration and interoperability to deliver higher performance and competitive advantages.
