Figma has introduced a new integration that allows developers to move work directly from Anthropic’s Claude Code into Figma’s design environment. By installing the Figma MCP and using the prompt “Send this to Figma,” a browser’s rendered state converts into fully editable Figma layers. The update is designed to let teams shift fluidly between code and visual design, rather than treating them as separate stages. Once designs are refined on the canvas, changes can be pulled back into the codebase, creating a bidirectional workflow between development and design.

CEO Dylan Field framed the move as part of a broader shift away from linear build processes. Instead of brainstorming, designing, and coding in sequence, teams can now start in code, explore alternatives visually, compare approaches side by side, and iterate before committing to a direction. Figma argues that the design canvas is better suited for evaluating multiple possibilities at once, while AI-assisted coding tools accelerate execution. The Claude Code integration reflects Figma’s push to position the canvas as a central workspace where ideas from terminals, prompts, and prototypes converge before shipping.
