Atlassian Corporation, a provider of collaboration and productivity software used by more than 300,000 organizations, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire The Browser Company of New York (BCNY) for approximately $610 million in cash.
BCNY, best known for its Arc and Dia browsers, has attracted millions of users with its reimagined approach to the internet. The transaction will be funded from Atlassian’s balance sheet and is expected to close in the second quarter of fiscal 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. The company stated the acquisition will not materially affect its financial results in fiscal 2026 or 2027.
The deal aims to transform Dia into an AI-powered browser designed specifically for workplace use. Mike Cannon-Brookes, Atlassian’s Co-Founder and CEO, stated, “Today’s browsers weren’t built for work, they were built for browsing. This deal is a bold step forward in reimagining the browser for knowledge work in the AI era.”
BCNY’s Co-Founder Josh Miller added, “For laptop workers, your browser is where your job actually happens – where you spend hours working within tabs every day.” He added, “Teaming up means we can move faster, dream bigger, and focus on building an AI browser for work that people genuinely love to use – one that is trusted by companies but feels personal to every individual.”
