Anthropic has launched Project Glasswing, a multi-industry initiative aimed at strengthening cybersecurity as AI capabilities rapidly advance. The effort brings together major technology and enterprise players, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Google, NVIDIA, and JPMorganChase, among others. At the center of the initiative is Claude Mythos2 Preview, an advanced AI model capable of identifying and exploiting software vulnerabilities at a level comparable to top human experts.
Anthropic said the model has already uncovered thousands of critical flaws across major operating systems and web browsers, including long-standing vulnerabilities that had gone undetected for decades. The company has committed up to $100 million in usage credits and additional funding to support partners and open-source security efforts. Project Glasswing focuses on using these capabilities defensively, enabling organizations to detect and fix vulnerabilities before they can be exploited. Early applications include automated vulnerability detection, penetration testing, and securing critical infrastructure systems.
Anthony Grieco, SVP & Chief Security Trust Officer at Cisco, noted, “Providers of technology must aggressively adopt new approaches now, and customers need to be ready to deploy. That is why Cisco joined Project Glasswing—this work is too important and too urgent to do alone.” The initiative also aims to establish new standards for software security, including improved disclosure processes and automated patching.
