Koelmel joins Bitdefender with more than 30 years of experience in the cybersecurity sector. As noted in the announcement, he most recently served as CRO at Logpoint and previously held the role of president and general manager for the Americas and EMEA at Cybereason. His background also includes senior leadership positions at Palo Alto Networks and FireEye, where he focused on building partner ecosystems and high-performing sales organizations. He is expected to leverage this experience to drive the adoption of Bitdefender’s unified security platform, GravityZone.

The appointment comes as the company expands its portfolio with AI-driven tools like PHASR, designed to proactively reduce attack surfaces. Andrei Florescu, president and general manager of the Bitdefender Business Solutions Group, stated that Koelmel’s leadership will be instrumental in helping organizations “mitigate risk and navigate an increasingly complex and expanding attack surface.” Koelmel noted that Bitdefender is positioned to help businesses address data regulations and digital sovereignty, stating he looks forward to “helping turn security into a true business enabler.”
