Domo is putting Ben Schein in charge of a bigger push to connect enterprise AI models to the data and workflows they need to operate in production. As Chief AI and Analytics Officer, Schein will lead Domo’s internal AI transformation and help shape customer-facing applications and agents built on governed business data. The appointment comes as Domo expands its forward deployed engineering teams, which work directly with customers to move AI systems from pilots into live sales, marketing, finance, and product workflows.

Schein joined Domo in 2018 and previously held senior leadership roles in product and analytics. His background includes nearly a decade at Target, where he served as senior director of enterprise data, analytics, and business intelligence. During his tenure at the retail giant, he led large-scale projects that scaled analytics adoption from a few thousand users to an enterprise-wide deployment. His focus centered on embedding granular data into day-to-day decision-making, a framework he is now applying to Domo’s “headless” software architecture.

The strategic mandate for Schein involves moving beyond traditional dashboards to a model where AI agents operate directly on governed data through the Domo Model Context Protocol. Founder and CEO Josh James stated that the appointment addresses an execution problem prevalent in the industry, where models remain disconnected from actual business operations. Schein will drive the implementation of systems that interact programmatically, allowing AI to execute workflows rather than requiring human navigation through traditional user interfaces.
