Sphera has appointed Chris Gutheil as Chief Technology Officer, tasking him with leading the company’s global technology organization and accelerating its multi-year product roadmap. Reporting to CEO Paul Marushka, Gutheil will oversee AI initiatives and engineering operations while supporting the rollout of Sphera AI, a platform designed to convert operational data into predictive insights for compliance, risk management, and operational performance.

Marushka said, “Technology—and especially AI—is reshaping how companies operate, manage risk and respond to increasing regulatory and stakeholder expectations,” adding that Gutheil’s experience would help deliver the next generation of products. Gutheil brings more than two decades of enterprise software experience, most recently serving as Chief Engineering Officer at QAD and previously holding leadership roles at Accruent. 

He will focus on reducing customer implementation time and expanding scalable AI capabilities across the product portfolio. Commenting on his appointment, Gutheil said Sphera helps companies operate safely, responsibly, and sustainably, adding that he plans to use its data and AI capabilities to reduce environmental impact and improve worker safety. He called it “a powerful opportunity” to drive more efficient, data-driven operations.
