Snowflake has introduced Cortex Code, a Snowflake-native AI coding agent designed to help organizations move data and AI initiatives from concept to production more quickly. Built to operate directly within an enterprise’s data environment, Cortex Code automates tasks across data engineering, analytics, and AI application development while preserving governance, security, and operational controls. The tool forms part of the Snowflake Cortex AI suite alongside Snowflake Intelligence, extending AI-driven capabilities across the full data lifecycle.

Snowflake said Cortex Code allows both technical and non-technical users to build pipelines, analytics, and AI-powered applications using natural language. Additional updates include collaborative development environments, integrations that support natural language app creation, and tools that connect enterprise data with real-time external information.

Snowflake executives said the goal is to embed AI directly into day-to-day development workflows so teams can rely on it at scale.  Christian Kleinerman, EVP of Product at Snowflake, stated, “For AI to truly deliver value, it must move beyond experimentation and become an integral part of the systems that teams rely on every day.” Customers, including dentsu, FYUL, LendingTree, and United Rentals, reported faster transitions from testing to production by using Cortex Code within existing workflows and developer tools.
