Atlassian has announced the appointment of Anil Sabharwal to its Board of Directors. Sabharwal currently serves as Vice President of Product at Google and brings more than 17 years of leadership experience at the company. His appointment follows his role in 2025 as a technical advisor to Atlassian, where he helped oversee the company’s partnership with the Atlassian Williams Racing Formula One Team.
Commenting on the appointment, Atlassian CEO and Co-Founder Mike Cannon-Brookes said, “Anil builds products people can’t live without. He’s spent his career helping ambitious companies scale responsibly, and he knows how to make products smarter, more helpful, and more human with AI.”
Sabharwal is a seasoned technology entrepreneur and product leader with a strong track record of building and scaling global platforms. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and is based in Sydney, Australia. During his tenure at Google, he founded and led Google Photos, which surpassed one billion active users in under four years, and held senior leadership roles across Google Chrome, ChromeOS, Chromium, and the founding teams behind Google Drive, Mobile Docs, and Google Keep. Most recently, he led the Health and Wearables division within Google’s Pixel organization. Beyond Google, Sabharwal is a Venture Partner at AirTree Ventures and previously served on the Board of Wesfarmers. He co-founded Desire2Learn.
