Palo Alto Networks has appointed Mark Goodburn to its Board of Directors while confirming the planned retirement of long-serving director Mary Pat McCarthy, effective January 23, 2026. Goodburn will chair the Audit Committee and join the Security Committee, bringing extensive advisory and technology experience from his decade-long tenure as Chairman and Global Head of Advisory at KPMG International, as well as previous leadership roles in strategic investments and telecommunications.
Chairman and CEO Nikesh Arora said, “We are delighted to welcome Mark to our Board of Directors as we continue to execute on our strategy and drive growth. Mark is a respected leader with decades of experience in global advisory, technology, and innovation, and his insights will be invaluable to us,” while also expressing appreciation for McCarthy’s years of guidance. McCarthy, who has served since 2016, stepped down as Audit Committee Chair but will remain on both committees until her retirement.
The company acknowledged McCarthy’s nearly decade-long service, with Arora noting, “She has been a foundational part of our journey, providing unwavering guidance, wisdom, and stewardship.” Goodburn currently sits on the board of C.H. Robinson Worldwide and brings additional governance experience that Palo Alto Networks expects will support its growth strategy. The firm, which provides AI-supported security solutions across network, cloud, and security operations, continues to emphasize platform-based protection for its more than 70,000 customers.
