Apple announced the planned transition of its Chief Operating Officer role from Jeff Williams to Sabih Khan. Williams, who has been with Apple for 27 years, will remain with the company through his retirement later this year, continuing to oversee the design team and health initiatives while reporting to CEO Tim Cook. Reflecting on Williams’ tenure, Cook stated, “He’s helped to create one of the most respected global supply chains in the world; launched Apple Watch and overseen its development; architected Apple’s health strategy; and led our world-class team of designers with great wisdom, heart, and dedication.” Williams described his time at Apple as “a privilege of a lifetime,” highlighting his confidence in Khan’s leadership.
Khan, a 30-year veteran at Apple and Senior Vice President of Operations since 2019, will now step into the COO role. Cook praised Khan as “a brilliant strategist,” noting his role in advancing manufacturing innovation, expanding Apple’s supply chain, and supporting environmental initiatives. Cook also added, “He has advanced our ambitious efforts in environmental sustainability, helping reduce Apple’s carbon footprint by more than 60 percent. Above all, Sabih leads with his heart and his values, and I know he will make an exceptional chief operating officer.” With this move, Apple continues its focus on operational excellence and sustained leadership under Khan’s guidance.
