Gainsight, a software company focused on customer retention and success, has announced that Founder Nick Mehta will transition from Chief Executive Officer to Board Member and Special Advisor, naming President and COO Chuck Ganapathi as his successor. Ganapathi brings more than 25 years of experience in CRM, AI, and enterprise software, with leadership roles at Salesforce, Siebel, and Tact.ai.
“Chuck has been transformational to Gainsight,” said Mehta, citing his role in launching the CustomerOS strategy, advancing AI integration, and guiding acquisitions. Vista Equity Partners Board Member John Stalder added, “He brings the perfect blend of strategy and operational excellence to extend Gainsight’s leadership and accelerate its vision for retention-as-a-service.”
Since joining Gainsight 18 months ago, Ganapathi has led major product and growth initiatives, including the acquisitions of Staircase AI, UpdateAI, and ModerateKit, as well as the rollout of Renewal AI, the company’s first autonomous agent. Under his leadership, Gainsight secured enterprise expansions with Adobe, DocuSign, and SAP.
Reflecting on the transition, Ganapathi said, “Nick has been a great friend for 25 years, and I’m grateful for his leadership in the first chapter of Gainsight. I’m honored to carry the torch into Gainsight’s next chapter.”
