EnterpriseDB (EDB), a company specializing in PostgreSQL-based data and AI platforms, has announced the integration of NVIDIA accelerated computing and AI software into its sovereign platform, EDB Postgres AI (EDB PG AI). The move comes as enterprises increasingly prioritize sovereign AI, with recent research commissioned by EDB showing that only 13% of large organizations currently achieve sustainable returns from generative and agentic AI projects, though 90% plan to establish their own AI and data platforms within the next three years. Built on PostgreSQL, EDB PG AI now combines NVIDIA AI Enterprise, including NIM microservices and NeMo Retriever, to improve performance, governance, and cost efficiency. Early results show throughput gains of up to 3x in data embedding and significant improvements in retrieval speeds, enabling companies to bring new applications into production faster while reducing infrastructure costs.
The collaboration also grants EDB direct access to NVIDIA’s latest software advancements, ensuring continuous optimization for customers across hybrid environments. Nancy Hensley, Chief Product Officer at EDB, emphasized the strategic importance of sovereignty, stating, “Sovereignty is now the defining factor in enterprise AI success. By integrating NVIDIA AI software into EDB Postgres AI, we’re giving customers the performance and control they need to build secure, agentic AI solutions on their terms, wherever their data lives.”
